What Is Invisalign and How are the Appointments Structured in Nottingham? - image

In brief, Invisalign is the best treatment dentistry has offered so far in regards nearly invisible teeth straightening. In detail, it is a clear aligner system that has been on the market for a couple of decades. It is the market leader in the field and has a huge amount of research and development behind it, which means it comes loaded with a lot of features that allow dentists to correct more complex misalignments of teeth. Just for your reference, a clear aligner is a clear custom made plastic tray which fits very tightly against your teeth and puts pressure on the teeth to move them. You should expect to have various sets of clear aligners and change the set of aligners every two weeks. Each set slightly moves the teeth, until the desired results is achieved.

Structure of Appointments

  1. 1.Once you have been for a consultation with us, we assess your teeth and bite and tell you what options are available for your. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, provided this is your chosen treatment option, you would come back for a full dental health check and X-rays.
  2. At the next appointment, we (1) Check the health of your teeth, gums, and mouth in general, (2) Take the necessary X-rays to ensure that your teeth bone and gums are healthy and, (3) Produce a report to let you know if everything is OK, or any fillings or gum treatments (or any other treatments) are required.
  3. Once your mouth is healthy, you come back for a mould photo and records appointment.
  4. After this appointment we send your photos and moulds to Invisalign so that a Clincheck can be produced. A Clincheck is a computerised prediction and movie of how your teeth will look like after treatment. This Clincheck is assessed by me to ensure that we can achieve predictable and realistic results.
  5. Once the Clincheck is assessed and modified appropriately by our straight teeth dentists, you will come back to see the Clincheck, which will provide you with information on how many aligner sets you will need. It will tell us how much IPR (space creation is required) and whether any attachments (tooth coloured blobs on the teeth to achieve certain types of movements) are required.
  6. Once the Clincheck is approved by both you and your dentist, we give the laboratory the green light to go ahead and produce the aligners.
  7. A couple of weeks later the aligners will be ready and you can get started with the active treatment.

Note: You many need to come back every 4-12 weeks for reviews and adjustments till treatment is complete.

It may sound like a lot of work, but it is a pretty straightforward and quick treatment that improves your smile and aligns your teeth perfectly.
