Invisalign: From A-Z in Nottingham

Posted on: May 5th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Admittedly, Invisalign is gaining popularity, especially among adults, as a solution for orthodontic issues, and for a very good reason. Invisalign, unlike traditional ceramic-metal braces that require the placement of brackets on the teeth, in addition to being linked together with unaesthetic-pleasing wires, works, as its name suggest, almost invisibly. It is a particularly attractive solution for those that feel self-conscious about wearing braces that are noticeable and wish to draw attention away from their mouths, such as actors and teachers.

But, how much do you know about Invisalign? Here is a guide to the basic steps involved, so you know what to expect before you decide to opt for them or not.

  1. Consultation with our Certified Invisalign Providers

Please note that only professionals that have received specialised training can work with Invisalign.

That said, during your consultation appointment, our trained clinicians will assess your smile’s needs and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign or not. This is necessary, because, in some cases, the type of problem may require another orthodontic treatment to fix, other than Invisalign.

  1. Creation of a Bespoke Treatment Plan

With Invisalign, we use a series of clear trays that are specially created by taking X-rays and impressions of your teeth, so they fit almost perfectly over your teeth. These are then submitted to a specialized laboratory that makes a 3D print of your smile, which will be used to create an individual treatment plan. That way, we are able to estimate the overall duration of your treatment.

  1. Arrival of Individually Moulded Trays

Once your customized trays arrive, the treatment process can commence. However, for Invisalign to work properly, you must wear the aligners 20 to 22 hours per day, remove them only when you eat or drink, and brush your teeth regularly. These trays will allow your teeth to move into the right position, as a means to correct your teeth alignment issues, without having to worry about anything during your everyday life. Once the individualised treatment plan is completed, you can look in the mirror and be euphoric with the beautiful smile you have gained!

Final Notes:

  • Normally, you will have to replace your aligners every couple of weeks and have a new set. This is to paramount to allow the teeth to continue moving throughout the treatment process.
  • It is important to check in with our team approximately every 6 weeks or so, to check how the treatment progresses.
  • Like any other teeth straightening method, maintaining your oral hygiene is critical to a successful orthodontic treatment. It is paramount to clean your aligner after you have removed it to eat or drink, so it won’t get stained and remains bacteria-free.

To acquire a gorgeous smile is not a far-fetched dream at Straight Teeth Suite, so don’t be intimidated by those that may discourage you from wearing braces, only because they think braces are for children.

What is the best straight teeth option for adults in Nottingham?

Posted on: July 1st, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

Many people think braces are only for the younger ages, around adolescence, which is why a number of adults used to be withdrawn from pursuing a beautiful smile and lovely straight teeth. Thankfully, this all has started to change over the last decades, and people of all ages have come to the realization that an enhanced well-being and daily routine, through increased self-confidence and a wide inviting, bright, smile is everyone’s right.

In regards the orthodontic treatments available right now, one of the most popular teeth straightening options in Nottingham is the 6 Month Braces one. We feel proud that our dentist at Straight Teeth Suite was among the pioneers that had first been trained and successfully implemented this treatment in the entire country. The 6 Month Braces is a tested method with hundreds of successfully completed cases in our practice, so we implicitly recommend it to adults in Nottingham and nearby cities that want a fast and discreet way to improve their smile.

It is an orthodontic treatment widely popular among brides that want to be more confident smiling for their special days; we have had hundreds of such cases that we were happy to serve. It is also a much preferred option for those that want to go passed unnoticed when wearing braces. We had plenty of adults having treatment done and no one noticed they had braces on until the end, when they were proud to show off their new smiles!

What does 6 Month Braces consist of?

This orthodontic treatment consists of fixed tooth coloured braces attached to the front of the teeth and a tooth coloured wire which allows the teeth to move. The best thing about it is that you don’t have to worry about taking the braces out and you can even eat and drink with the braces in, unlike other treatment options.

With this treatment, you can correct up to 8 front teeth simultaneously (both top and bottom) in just about a 6-month time!

Am I Suitable for this Orthodontic Treatment?

Most likely yes, as long as you have healthy teeth and gums. As previously mentioned, it is a treatment used to fix up to 8 front teeth on both jaws. So, if your concerns are just these teeth, then you are good to go!

It is also a suggested and recommended teeth straightening option in Nottingham if you do not have any serious bite issues, such as crossbites, underbites, or overbites. If this is the case, you will need to go through other available orthodontic treatment options to address this issue and get you the perfectly aligned teeth and that beautiful smile you have always longed for. Finally, 6 month braces are ideal if you had braces in the past and wish to save yourself from having to wear them again for another 2 years.

I am convinced that this treatment best suits my needs. What next?

You set up an appointment with our dentists, here at Straight Teeth Suite, and they will evaluate your case at full. As soon as the 6 month braces treatment is complete, you can also opt for tooth whitening, so you amaze everybody with a delightful straight white smile! At this point, please note that you need to have retainers in the end to ensure your teeth don’t move, which is standard procedure to all orthodontic treatments.

Our oral health is important, so every orthodontic treatment should only be practiced by professionals with immense experience in their field. Straight Teeth Suite has awarded experts working on each case, ensuring you get maximum results within the promised time. So, wherever you are at Nottingham, or surrounding areas, feel free to ask for a quote and start a journey where the final destination is your gorgeous, straight, bright smile!

Adding the Finishing Touches after Braces

Posted on: June 5th, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

After spending months getting their teeth straightened with braces, many people like to go that one step further and see if they can make their new smile even better with teeth whitening or cosmetic bonding.

It makes sense, after putting in all that effort, to ensure your teeth are as perfect as you want them to be. There are a number of ways to do this, especially if your teeth have suffered damage such as staining or chipping that your braces couldn’t ‘cure’.

Tooth Whitening

Professional bleaching is the popular way to get rid of discolouration on the teeth and our dentists at the Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham will be able to advise if this is the best method for you. It’s a simple, pain free way of getting whiter teeth and removing those stains that have gathered over time.

The most common process is called dentist supervised home whitening where you have specially fitted trays produced that are placed in your mouth like gum shields. You will be able to take these home where a whitening gel is used to bleach the surface of the teeth. The shields can be worn overnight and gradually lighten the colour of your teeth to make your smile brighter.

Another option is chair-side whitening which is undertaken at the dentists. Your dentist will put a rubber shield or a gel over your gums to protect them and then apply a whitening product to your teeth, again using a specially made tray. The whitening product has either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which both work by allowing oxygen to get into the enamel and dentine of the teeth. Application of this process causes the tooth colour to become lighter.

Whitening can last up to three years but it often depends on your personal habits. If you smoke, or drink products that stain your teeth (like red wine, tea and coffee), the effect may not last as long.

Dental Bonding

Another option is to use cosmetic bonding to complete that perfect smile after braces.

Bonding is often used to correct the shape of the teeth, improving jagged, pointy, worn or chipped edges. Over time our teeth can be damaged from chewing nails, eating the wrong food or just from acid corrosion as a result of having fruit or carbonated drinks. The older you get the more likely your teeth are to have signs of wear and tear.

Bonding uses a specially made resin that is applied to the surface of your tooth and can be shaped by an expert dentist to restore it to its original glory. This process can also be used to close the gaps between teeth or make them appear slightly longer.

Under the eye of a qualified cosmetic dentist it’s possible to add the finishing touches to your teeth once those braces come off and at the Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham Leicester and Loughborough there are a variety of choices.

Whether you decide on dental bonding or teeth whitening, or both, we’ll be able to give you the best advice and ensure that you leave with a perfect smile.

How much do braces cost in Nottingham, Leicester & Loughborough

When asked to undergo a dental or orthodontic treatment, many people are concerned about the cost, especially when they need to wear braces, for aesthetic reasons or in order to improve their health. At this point, it is important to note that brace cost varies and is different from one person to another. Also, there are numerous factors that determine the final cost of braces, which will be discussed here.

The Type of Braces

For starts, you need to take into consideration the type of braces you choose. Each one has a different cost. At Straight Teeth Suite, we offer a wide array of options, for you to choose from, which include:

  • 6 month braces – offering a quick and discreet way to correct up to 8 front teeth bottom and top at the same time.
  • Damon Braces – for more complex cases, especially people with bite issues.
  • Fast Braces – for a speedy correction of up to 8 teeth bottom and top, and a great alternative of metal and clear braces.
  • Invisalign – with invisible, customized aligners, for those that do not fancy metal braces.
  • Inman Aligner – a discreet-in-use choice for adults that helps straighten crooked or crowded teeth in a very limited time frame.
  • Clear or Metal fixed braces – with metal or ceramic brackets connected with each other with an archwire. A very good choice for achieving fine detail.
  • Traditional orthodontics–  with conventional fixed appliances.

The Alignment of Your Teeth

Another thing you have to take into consideration is the position of your teeth. There are different types of misaligned teeth:

  • Crooked teeth – can occur due to a number of reasons and could also be an inherited trait.
  • Teeth with gaps between them – resulting from many causes, from behavioural to natural.
  • Overbite – when your upper and lower jaw is either malformed or not the same size.
  • Crowded teeth – when the mouth is too small for the teeth to grow.
  • Asymmetrical teeth – when the centre of your upper jaw does not align with the centre of your lower jaw.
  • 1-8 teeth to correct

With all the aforementioned into account, it becomes obvious that giving an answer as per brace price, is difficult to almost impossible, unless having seen the patient for an assessment first.

Cost of Teeth Straightening

Indicatively, and only as a guideline, this is the price of cosmetic braces:

Invisalign: Straight Teeth Without Braces

Posted on: May 12th, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

Most of us remember only too well the trials and tribulations of our school days, especially those few, unlucky individuals who had to wear unattractive metal braces. Getting through high school was bad enough without having to endure the taunts and teasing from all the other kids and that may have been one of the reasons that many chose not to have a brace to straighten their own teeth.

At the time, it may have seemed like a good idea.

But the kid who had a brace in school now has a straight attractive smile and you might be thinking about it and wish you had endured a few hardships back then. And you don’t want to go around with unattractive metal braces now that you’re an adult.

It’s too late, or so you may think.

Technology has moved on considerably in the last few years and straight teeth and a perfect smile don’t have to be at the expense of looking good to your friends and colleagues.

Visit the Straight Teeth Suite in the East Midlands and you can have a look at Invisalign, a revolutionary dental solution that can be used to treat crooked teeth or excess spacing of teeth. And if you want straight teeth and an attractive smile, without the prospect of a mouthful of unsightly metal, then Invisalign could be the option to choose.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign process consists of clear plastic aligners that are fitted to move your teeth and the great thing is they are practically invisible. Unlike conventional braces, these can be removed which makes cleaning easier and, with no wires, food doesn’t get caught in them. They take a comparably shorter time to work than traditional braces and are suitable for both adults and teenagers.

The aligners work in stages. You will be fitted with a set after your dentist takes impressions of your teeth. These are worn all the time except when you are eating and drinking. After the first set of aligners have done their job, you go back to the dentist and have another set that further straightens your teeth. Over time, the aligners gently push your teeth into the right position so that you end up with a perfect, straight smile.

  • Invisalign aligners can handle most problems from crowding to excess spacing.
  • Because of the way they fit, no one will know that you are wearing them so you don’t have to worry about having a mouthful of unattractive metal braces.
  • Invisalign is more comfortable and easier to clean than normal braces.
  • How long the work takes will depend on what the problem is, but your dental practitioner at will be able to give you the right advice.

If you have always wanted a straight attractive smile and have wondered if it was possible, then visit us at The Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham, Leicester or Loughborough and find out what Invisalign can do for you right now.

The Importance of Wearing a Retainer After Braces

Posted on: March 26th, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

When the big day arrives and you take your brace off for the last time, you might be forgiven for thinking you are finished, your teeth are now perfect and always will be. But, of course, there is still some work to be done.

After your braces are removed, your orthodontist at the Straight Teeth Suite will recommend you use a retainer, a device that fits in your mouth and helps prevent your teeth slipping back to their former positions.

What is a Retainer?

A retainer is a small, custom-made insert that needs to be worn after your braces have done their job and helps reinforce the new position of your teeth. When your braces come out, the dentist will determine when and for how long you will need to wear one each day. You may be instructed to wear the retainer at night only or to keep it in during the day as well, at least to begin with, depending on the work you have had done.

There are three types of retainer:

The Hawley Retainer: This is a thin, tongue-shaped acrylic mould that fits into your mouth while a wire holds your teeth in position.

The Clear Aligner Retainer: This looks similar to the Invisalign tray system, a thin, clear plastic device designed to fit over your teeth and hold them in position.

Fixed Retainers: Whilst the other two models can be removed, these are fixed onto the teeth. They are used particularly for the lower front dentures and have a wire, bonded to the back of the teeth, that can’t be seen.  Although a fixed retainer must be worn for life, most people don’t even notice they are wearing one.

How Long Will I Have to Wear a Retainer?

At the Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham, your dentist will prescribe the type of retainer you need and explain when you need to wear it and for how long. The prospect of tooth relapse within the first month after braces are removed is very high without the use of a retainer, which is why you will need to follow your dentist’s instructions properly. This is the importance of wearing a retainer after braces.

Though they may reduce the time when you need to wear the device, your orthodontist is unlikely to recommend that you stop wearing your retainer altogether and you should think of it as an additional and long-term investment in your brand new smile

What if I Decide to Stop Wearing My Retainer?

If you fail to wear your retainer regularly it will lead to movement because the tissue around your teeth is unsupported when it needs to be. You might not notice a difference at first, when you look in the mirror, but over time your teeth will become misaligned again. One thing you will notice is that the retainer doesn’t fit properly afterwards.

A retainer is a valuable device that helps prevent unwanted tooth movement after your braces have done their job. At the Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham our qualified staff will assess your individual needs and provide a retainer that will help you maintain that bright new smile.
