How To Choose Your Brace Package in Loughborough – Your guide to Six Month Braces. Part One

Posted on: November 9th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Deciding to get straight teeth in Loughborough is the first step. Now you have to find the right treatment for you. One of the most wanted procedures is Six Month Braces, you can straighten your teeth quickly and discretely. This method is fast and easy. The braces are discreet, and your speech is not affected. This blog is the first in a series of four blogs addressing your questions and shedding light on the procedures available to you. In this blog, we look at the Six Month Braces and the alternatives.

What are Six Month Braces?

You may be old school and think all braces are the train track variety of yesteryear only worn by children and teenagers. But braces, like everything else, have advanced with modern technology, and now adults who missed out in their teens are wearing braces. Six Month Smile utilise clear braces that are attached to your teeth with a tooth coloured wire to straighten gently or align teeth in an average time of just six months. They are so discreet it will not be immediately apparent you are wearing braces.

Having Six Month Braces vs. Alternative Braces

According to many patients, Six Month Braces are known for being more comfortable than conventional braces. However, both pain and comfort are subjective.  One patient will hardly notice they are wearing braces whereas another will feel the discomfort and irritation of something alien in their mouth for a few weeks.

Nobody can promise you that getting straight teeth is going to be entirely pain-free. But the Six Month Braces are made of very light wires, making the treatment more comfortable than conventional braces. The emphasis is on low force rather than tightening, to get the teeth moving.

Invisalign or Six Month Braces?

There are also quite a lot of cases that can be treated with Invisalign, a popular alternative to Six Month Braces. While Invisalign are discreet, clear, molded brace that fit over the teeth, Six Month Braces involves fixed braces, so you don’t have to worry about taking them in and out, every time you eat or drink. Both methods are discreet so not everyone will notice you are wearing braces but Invisalign can take longer than Six Month Braces.

A Gorgeous Smile Is Not as Expensive as You Might Imagine

When deciding to straighten their teeth, many people think about the pain first, but they are also quite cautious the price might be excessive for their budget. The cost does depend on the complexity of your problems. However,  we are confident that the treatment we offer is both efficient, effective, and represents great value for all our patients.  You can spread the cost with a monthly payment plan. We have various options that allow you to pay as you go, or we can set up a structured finance plan to spread the cost out on a monthly basis.. We treat every case individually, and this will be discussed during your consultation appointment.

Once you have arranged your FREE initial appointment, our Loughborough -based dentists will be able to go through any further questions with you in person, allowing you time to be confident in your decision. In Part 2, we will look at if Six Month Braces are right for you.

Start Lingual Braces Treatment in Loughborough – Your guide to lingual braces, part 2

Now that you’ve gone through the basic FAQs in our first blog post in this Lingual Brace series, you’ll probably be wondering how best to move forward with the decision-making process. In order to ensure you’re well informed about the finer details of your chosen procedure and how we operate here at the Straight Teeth Suite, we’ve asked our team to explain in more depth what you need to do to secure an appointment and proceed further with your treatment.

How do I schedule an appointment for an initial exam?

Here at the Straight Teeth Suite, we’re comfortable for you to contact us in whatever way works best for you. We have a purpose-built form on the website, but we are equally happy for you to reach out to us via email, phone or our social media channels (Facebook and Twitter), and we can arrange an appointment for you in no time.

What should I ask during a consultation?

The most important thing to ask about is the experience of the dentist that will be treating you. You need to be assertive in order to ensure you are receiving the most suitable care. “Who is going to be doing my treatment? How much experience have they got? Can you show me some previous cases they have worked on?” These types of questions are much more valuable to ask than ones regarding the brand or system of brace you will be using, for example.

A lot of people may ask me what a lingual brace is – can you explain?

Lingual braces are fixed brackets that go on the back of your teeth. One of the advantages of this design is that they really are invisible – you can’t see them from the front, and they straighten your teeth in an extremely discreet manner. The particular lingual braces we use here for teeth straightening in Loughborough is a fixed bracket with a wire attached to it, allowing us to move your teeth where necessary.

In some more complicated cases, we may need to carry out additional kinds of treatment, such as pulling teeth out or shaving (known as inter-proximal reduction) – however, procedures such as these are very rare.

What is the track record for this treatment?

The treatment is extremely popular due to how discreet it is, but also because it gets results. In some cases, it can work exceedingly fast – this obviously depends on each individual patient, and we continually monitor progress to ensure that the treatment is going exactly to plan throughout the teeth straightening procedure.

How much will it cost?

As with all treatments, the cost can vary. The more simple cases average at around £3,000, but cases with added complications and complexities can reach up to around £5,000. That being said, we are confident that the treatment we offer in Loughborough is both efficient and effective, and represents great value for each and every one of our patients.

What payment options are available?

Again, we are flexible in this area. We have various options that allow you to pay as you go, or set up structured finance plans to spread the cost out on a monthly basis, or you can pay up front should you wish to. We treat every case individually, so all of this will be covered during your consultation appointment.

How long does an average treatment last?

It really depends on the complexity. Some cases can take as little as three months, some cases can take twelve, fifteen, eighteen months, but an indication of this will be given at your first appointment. We will make you aware whether you are a simple, moderate or complex case.

Is it better to start treatment early?

Again, it all depends on the individual. If you’re a growing teenager, for example, it’s best to start your treatment earlier. On the other hand, if you’re an adult, when you start is less important. We always advise our patients to consider their upcoming commitments – do you have any deadlines? Do you have a wedding in two years that you want your teeth to be straightened by? Once you work out your short to medium term plans, you can decide for yourself when is the best time to begin treatment.

Do you always have to extract teeth for treatment?

Not always. It really depends on whether or not we need to free up some space for your teeth, and this is something we can address when we first meet you. Some cases may be borderline; in this instance, we are cautious with the process to ensure you are always receiving the right level of treatment. We may not initially decide to take any teeth out, instead seeing how the teeth respond, and then reassess later on.

If you’re ready to find out what your options are you can contact us here for your free consultation.

A Removable Solution for a Straighter Smile in Loughborough. Your guide to the Inman Aligner, part three

Posted on: September 11th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

As you’ve seen in part 1 and part 2 to Your Guide To the Inman Aligner blog series, the Straight Teeth Suite are committed to working together with you to find the most suitable treatment for your dental issue and lifestyle. If you feel that there are still a few questions left unanswered before you arrange your initial consultation in Loughborough, read on for some more comprehensive answers from the team

If I have had braces in the past but my teeth have shifted again, am I still able to have an Inman Aligner?

In the few cases where previous braces have not worked, it’s only natural that you will want to rectify this issue once and for all. If it’s only the front four teeth that have moved, you would be a perfect candidate for an Inman Aligner – it doesn’t matter how successful or unsuccessful your past treatments may have been, if the team feel like they can treat you then you will have the same access as anyone to the procedure.

Will I need a retainer?

Regardless of the dental treatment you receive, you will still need to use retainers for the rest of your life in order to keep your teeth straight. People of all ages that have used any one type have brace at some stage in their life all find themselves in the same position, so it’s nothing to worry about.

Can I get Inman Aligners at the same time as an expander?

This will depend on the specifics of your case, but it’s more than likely that this will be perfectly fine. If the team feel that your teeth need to be expanded slightly in order bring them forward a bit, or just to make some more space within your mouth, then you would be perfectly able to have an expander included with your treatment.

Will my wisdom teeth affect Inman Aligner treatments?

It’s actually a common misconception that wisdom teeth are the root cause of crowding of the front teeth. A lot of research has been carried out to disprove this theory, which means that they would not affect your treatment. If you’re experiencing discomfort with your wisdom teeth, we advise that a separate treatment plan is taken.

Does an Inman Aligner require good molars?

In a nutshell, having good molars is not a prerequisite when it comes to being eligible for the Inman Aligner. There are ways around not having them – for example, the team may be able to attach the little hooks on the aligner onto your back teeth, meaning they would only need access to your premolars. This is something that would be assessed at your initial consultation.

Can it straighten my canines?

Unfortunately not, as it only works on the front four teeth – the team would instead offer you an alternative way to move forward once they had assessed the issue.

Can I use an Inman Aligner if I have a missing tooth?

Again, this is something that is case dependent – it really comes down to what tooth or teeth are missing before the team could provide relevant feedback.

Would it be able to close the gap from thumb sucking?

The severity of the damage would have to be assessed before the team would be able to recommend an aligner. If the top two teeth are pushed quite far forward and you want them to be pushed back, it’s a very distinct possibility. However, it has been the case a conventional brace is more appropriate due to the level of damage that has been done.

Can an Inman Aligner correct overlaps?

This particular treatment is actually extremely effective to treat overlaps. The team have treated a number of cases involving them, many of which you are able to see on the website. When the front teeth are crooked, or if the lower bite is crowded, this type of aligner would be one of the first treatments that the team would recommend.

Would the aligner be able to correct protruding teeth?

The Inman Aligner is fantastic at treating this kind of problem. The average case is around 12 to 16 weeks, but it’s hugely effective in tackling the issue – more than worth the slightly longer treatment programme.

What about front teeth with gaps?

It is possible for us to treat this kind of issue with an Inman Aligner, but it is very case specific. In some instances, the team may wish to implement clear aligners to finish off the treatment cycle following the use of the Inman. You would be keep informed with all developments, and be able to discuss with the team what ways of treating the issue you would be most comfortable with, making the whole process easier for all parties.

If the use of an Inman Aligner sounds like something that would help your smile reach its full potential, make sure you contact one of the Loughborough-based team at the Straight Teeth Suite. With professional help and guidance readily available before all treatments, it’s the easiest way to take that difficult first step towards a happier you. If there’s still questions you need answering, read Part 4 of this guide for further help with your queries.

Understanding Orthodontic Treatment for Children In Loughborough Part 2: The Importance of Early Treatment

Posted on: August 24th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Welcome back to Part 2 of this two part series, where we are answering the most frequently asked questions we get from parents considering orthodontic treatment for their children.

In Part 1  we discussed materials, costs and the importance of regular check ups and after care. Here, in Part 2 we discuss the importance of early treatment.

Is it better to start treatment early?

In different countries, different dentists will have different approaches, and treat patients in different ways. Abroad, a lot of the dentists will tend to carry out treatment when the child is around the age of 8 or 9, and they will do it in two phases. The first phase in the mix tissue when the child has a mixture of both baby teeth and adult teeth, then they may consider whether to do a second phase when the patient is older and has adult teeth.

In the U.K., a lot of our training is with young teenagers, before baby teeth have been lost, and when adult teeth are present. So we tend to start treatment when the child is around 12 or 13. Sometimes children lose their baby teeth a bit earlier, and so may be able to start earlier, for example at 11. That’s the ideal scenario, but treatment can be started right up to adulthood.

Will my child have to have teeth out for treatment?

This depends on a number of factors. Here at the Straight Teeth Suite, we use brackets like the Damon brackets, which fortunately have brought down our extraction rate, so we need to take less teeth out.

We will only remove teeth if there is severe crowding, if the profile is really filled up, or your child has severe overjet. Overjet, not to be confused with overbite, means the top teeth are very far forward, and they need to be pushed back.

If a tooth is really unhealthy it may need to come out. These are the only times that we will consider extraction. Obviously, there will be some exceptions. But fortunately, we’ve reduced our extraction rates, thanks to using the Damon system.

Is my child suitable for this treatment?

As long as their teeth are healthy, the roots of their teeth are healthy, and their gums are healthy, your child should be suitable.

There are some patients whose bite issues are so severe that they can only be corrected with surgery. Luckily this is very rare, but if your child happens to be one of those cases, we would tell you immediately and refer you to the hospital.

How long will treatment take?

Treatment times can take anything between 12, 18, or 24 months, depending on the complexity of the corrections being made. In some cases patients may need a removable brace first, and then move on to a fixed brace.

If you still have questions, or you think your child may need braces, contact us HERE for a FREE consultation and we can develop a treatment plan especially for your child.

Braces with Crowns in Loughborough – a case study

Posted on: August 18th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Having a straight smile is what gives us confidence. However, not all adults in Loughborough are lucky to have straight and healthy teeth without wearing braces or other dental fixes like crowns or bridges. More and more adults are now willing to have braces, especially as the braces on offer have replaced the old fashioned train tracks and hardly have an impact on your day to day life.

One of the most asked questions adults have when it comes to wearing braces is related to the fact that they have a crown

The most common dilemma by adult patients is if they already have a crown is it possible to wear braces as well. The straight answer is YES. Yes you can have a brace.  We treat many people for braces who have crowns, implant or bridges. Fortunately, even if it might seem impossible, a crown cannot stop you from getting the smile of your dreams.

It is true that crowns can bring some problems when it comes to straightening your teeth. For example, there is a chance that the margin of your crown becomes visible after wearing braces, because once your teeth are moved, the crown can also change its position.  However, this problem can be easily solved with a new crown, after the treatment is completed

Will Braces affect my crown

Even though a crown is not a major issue, when it comes to wearing braces, this is not an easy task. The good news is that when fixing your smile in Loughborough, you are in the hands of trained dentists who have been straightening teeth for a long time and no crown stayed in their way. They are able to fix the braces in a proper manner, without allowing them to come off. Whilst wearing a brace the crowns may be damaged, but this is usually aesthetic and can be corrected.

A Case Study

The patient below had crooked teeth and an unattractive crown in his upper arch, when he first came to a consultation Loughborough. He felt uncomfortable when he smiled and his confidence was destroyed.

Untitled

After his FREE consultation, we provided him with 6 Month braces. The best part was that it took only 5 months for him to get the straight smile he wanted.  6 Month Smile involves tooth-colored brackets and wires that are fixed to your teeth. In addition to the quickness of this treatment, the braces are barely visible. Many patients who choose this procedure are adults and, according to their feedback, people can hardly notice their braces.

Once the straightening process was completed, the patient was given professional teeth whitening treatment. We recommended this to all patients because it is a great way to enhance your smile. Furthermore, we redid his crown, giving him one that looked more natural and matched his other teeth and new smile.

The final result was absolutely amazing, offering the patient, not only straight teeth, but also a better feeling about himself and the possibility to smile without feeling embarrassed.

So, even if you have a crown, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get straight teeth. You can receive advice and recommendations from one of our dentists by booking your free consultation, HERE

Six month braces in Loughborough: Transforming gappy teeth into straight smiles

Posted on: July 7th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Gappy teeth are thought of as lucky within some cultures, where such a smile can represent wealth and fortune, and even within our own westernised culture the most illustrious of catwalks feature at least one in-demand gap toothed model.

However not everyone embraces the gaps in their teeth.

For the majority of people gappy teeth can cause self-consciousness, awkwardly covered mouths, or even the avoidance of social events and situations all together.

However if this sounds like an all-too familiar a tale then you’ll be glad to hear that today overcoming gappy teeth is both more affordable and more quickly achievable than ever before, and in this article we take a look at why.

Braces for gappy teeth

The world of braces has changed. No longer does it mean that the majority must wear the traditional train tracks for as long as two years. So, what can you expect from the world of dentistry today? Well, results within as little as 3 to 9 months for a start! Adult cosmetic braces are are suitable for both previous brace wearers, as well as braces newbies.

6 month braces in Loughborough: A little bit about how they work

6 month braces are designed to be fitted for a period of six months in average, after which you would wear a removable retainer; they are discreet and are decidedly free from the coloured wires and metal that traditional braces came along with.

They may be fixed to both your top and bottom teeth, or to either, and are specifically designed to close the gaps between your teeth, as well as aligning them for a naturally full and straight smile. They can also help to improve the health of your gums.

Your beautiful, gap free smile: Does it sound too good to be true?

Gappy to straight teeth within 6 months may sound too good to be true, so take a look at our patient case studies below, and the impressive results that we have achieved.

Patient A: A previous brace wearer and now a perfect example of super straight, gap free teeth

A patient, who had worn both top and bottom train track braces as a teenager approached us about his teeth, which had moved over time, with a gap emerging within his top row of teeth.

This patient was unhappy with the gaps in his teeth.

STS 1

The patient did not want to have to wear a traditional train track brace again and specifically wanted something that was both quick as well as discreet. With this in mind we discussed with the patient each and every option, with him ultimately opting for 6 month braces.

And the results? Well, see for yourself…

STS 2

After just six appointments, and within six months, our patient had a brand new smile that he could be proud of.

Patient B: A story of self-consciousness

Our second story involves a patient who was very self-conscious about his smile as a result of his gappy teeth. He felt uncomfortable smiling and didn’t like the fact his teeth appeared to protrude.

STS 3

For this particular patient the optimal solution would have been traditional train track braces (specifically to improve bite), however the patient was not comfortable with the two year time period and opted instead for the quicker and more reserved solution of six month braces.

And what did the patient think of his smile post braces?

The patient has said himself that our six month braces, and the results that they have achieved, have been nothing but life changing. You too can have these results.

STS 4

Saying a final farewell to your gappy teeth

Correcting a gappy smile is no longer the slow process that it once was. If you have questions, concerns or are ready for a professional assessment, then you can book right now with our practice team.

Will Lingual Braces Work for me in Loughborough ?

Posted on: May 18th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Wondering whether you are a suitable candidate for lingual braces? You are not alone. Many patients come to our practice in Loughborough and ask us the exact same thing. Considering the appeal this treatment has to teenagers and adults, it is no surprise so many people want to know more about it. Of the many things said and written, not everything is accurate. So, here is a brief overview to help clear the air! Of course, your dentist* (please see the note below) is the one responsible for determining which teeth straightening treatment is bet for you, but let’s go over some basics before you visit one!

As a general rule, just remember that if you can be treated with traditional braces, chances are you are also suited to lingual braces.

What cases do lingual braces treat?

Lingual braces are ideal for correcting numerous issues, from very minor to more severe related to the misalignment of the bite and teeth. So, if you have such issues, you will find an effective orthodontic treatment with lingual braces.

Also, lingual braces are used to treat malocclusions, such as crossbites, underbites, and overbites, as well as crooked, crowded, and gappy teeth. In detail:

  • Overcrowding occurs when all the teeth don’t have enough room to fit normally.
  • Any extra spaces within the jaw lead to widely spaced teeth or gappy teeth.
  • When you have a misaligned upper and lower jaw, you are having cross bites, which means that one or more upper teeth bite on the inside of the lower teeth, either to the side or the front of the mouth.
  • Deep bite is when the upper teeth overlap with the lower ones to a significant degree.
  • Finally, underbites occur when you have protruding front teeth. This is because the upper jaw undergrows for some reason, or the lower jaw overgrows (maybe even both).

What ages are ideal for lingual braces?

Typically, adult patients feel strongly about lingual braces, mainly because they appreciate the fact that they have been provided with a way to develop a great smile and correct their bite issues without compromising their appearance. Their smile improves quickly, without anyone knowing they are under an orthodontic treatment. However, an increasing number of teens and preteens also find lingual braces to be indispensable for the same reasons. They just love wearing braces that don’t obscure their teeth and not feeling self-conscious about their appearance. And, we all know how challenging the school environment can be.

Therefore, if you are an adult, professional, or have a teenage child and having a discreet orthodontic treatment is not enough, lingual braces are the best option. They are not only confidence boosters because they are completely invisible, but also very effective in treating every issue conventional treatments can. So, if you are suited for conventional braces you are an excellent candidate for lingual braces, too.

* NOTE: Only dentists who have been on additional training can apply lingual braces and determine if lingual braces will work for you, so be careful when choosing a dentist for that particular treatment.

How do you know if your child needs braces, in Loughborough ?

Posted on: May 5th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Every day, many of the patients we meet ask whether their child needs braces or not. The majority of these parents anxiously want a straightforward answer of either “YES” or “NO”. Of course, although the question seems clear-cut, the answer is more challenging that you might have imagined, given the numerous things we have to consider, assess, and evaluate before we reach a confident decision. However, we completely understand your concern as a parent, and here you can find all the information you will need to decide whether you should be seeking an orthodontist’s help or not.

So, what can you, as a parent, do to know if your child needs braces?

Look for the signs.

What does this mean? Let’s take first things first.

Your child should start seeing a dentist the moment their first baby tooth erupts, which is usually between their first 6 months and up to age one. With regular visits to the dentist, your dentist (and consequently, you) will know when it is time for a full or minor intervention for braces, even when not all baby teeth have fallen yet. Some problems are best treated the earliest possible, but others call for our patience and a wait-and-see approach. This means that we may have to treat a child between 6-9 or wait until their late teens.

The signs that reveal a child will most likely benefit from braces include:

  • Irregular, early, or late loss of baby teeth
  • Blocked-out teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Misplaced teeth
  • Biting of the roof of the mouth
  • Biting of the cheek
  • Teeth that don’t meet or meet abnormally
  • Teeth and jaws disproportionate to the rest of the face
  • Shifting jaws of jaws that make sounds

Other than, your child may require braces if they have biting issues.

The problems classified as a bad bite are as followed:

  • Having extra teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • An underbite or an overbites
  • Incorrect position of the jaw

What is the best age for my child to be evaluated for orthodontic care?

The evaluation of your child’s teeth and jaw, as well as the treatment of bite-related problems, can start at various stages of dental development, and it always depends on the case and the child’s growth. Also, your orthodontist will weigh the benefits and risks of treatment or not treating. Some children may benefit from an orthodontic intervention from a young age (6-7 years old), but orthodontic treatments usually begin between the ages 9-14 because the children are still growing and have some (at least) permanent teeth. Consult your pediatric or general dentist to help you determine the ideal time for evaluation and treatment.

Why do children need braces?

The majority of orthodontic issues are genetic, which means that children inherit having too much space between teeth, missing teeth, extra teeth, protruding upper teeth, and so on. Some other problems develop because of certain habits, such as thumb-sucking, dental decay, breathing through the mouth, and poor nutrition, to name a few. Or, it could be because there is not sufficient room in the laws for the teeth, which makes the jaws not line up properly or the teeth become crooked or crowded.

If you are still unsure whether your child needs braces or not, don’t hold yourself back from contacting Straight Teeth Suite in Loughborough and asking for our advice and help. Book a consultation for FREE and we will be more than willing and happy to clear everything out for you, evaluate your child’s case, and provide you with the best solutions possible so that you child enjoys a lovely, straight smile the soonest possible.

What are the benefits of 6 months braces in Loughborough

Posted on: July 10th, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

When it comes to adult orthodontics, Dr. Sepehrara is a pioneer, as she has brought the 6 Months Braces treatment, also referred to as 6 Month Smiles, to the East Midlands and was one of the first dentists in the UK to offer the treatment. The founder and Clinical Director of Straight Teeth Suite has introduced a teeth straightening system in Loughborough that has become very popular overtime, due to the fantastic results achieved! No matter how simple or complex a case, we guarantee a beautiful smile as the end result. Why are we so confident? Because we have accumulated a wealth of experience and have successfully treated all sorts of cases, in the field of adult orthodontics.
What are the Benefits of the 6 Months Braces in Loughborough?

    • To begin with, the 6 Months Braces treatment is much faster than any traditional orthodontic treatment. It will take you as little as 4 months to achieve a great smile, while the treatment may also need up to 10 months tops, which is still very little, compared to the 2 full years you would need, when wearing traditional braces.
    • It is a very discreet treatment that allows you to wear colored braces that mimic the color of your teeth. We also use clear elastics, and colored wires to have an overall unnoticed result.
    • With 6 Months Braces, you will experience no speech problems, unlike other traditional treatments where you have to struggle to utter the words correctly.
    • You get a continuous non-end teeth straightening process, since you don’t have to take them out when eating. You can’t do that with other treatments!
    • You say goodbye to painful adjustment appointments. With 6 Months Braces, your visits to our practices are short and pain-free!
    • If you have gappy teeth, crowded teeth, sticky out teeth, or rotated teeth, we can still treat them and give you the beautiful smile you deserve.
    • Last, but not least, you have an expert team by your side all the way, looking after you. Since you are in good hands, you have nothing to worry about!

If you take a look into our huge portfolio of before and after cases, as well as our patients’ feedback, you will not only see the splendid results we have achieved with 6 Months Smiles, but also read how most of our adult patients, who have jobs dealing with the public, have commented on how no one notices they have braces on! Yes, 6 Months Braces are THAT discreet!
Why is this treatment faster than others?
This is a common question asked by the majority of our patients. The 6 Months Smiles treatment takes significantly less time than traditional braces, mainly due to the fact that we are only moving the front teeth with this treatment, while with traditional braces, we move all of your teeth including the back ones, which take longer to move.

Furthermore, we do not take out teeth with this treatment. Usually, when the extraction of 2-4 teeth is required, it takes at least 18 months to close those spaces. What we do is create space by using a procedure called Interproximal Reduction (IPR), which involves the shaving off of your enamel, by just a few micrometers, so enough space is created for the teeth to move. In some rare cases only (e.g. severe crowding of the bottom teeth), we may take a lower front tooth out. Don’t worry, though. The gap will close quickly, in about 2-3 appointments.

In this photograph, you can see a case treated by me where the patient wanted to straighten her really crooked and rotate her top front teeth. She didn’t want traditional braces and asked for something fast and discreet. With a combination of IPR, some expansion, and the discretion provided by the tooth colored wire used, we were able to achieve beautiful straight teeth within 6 months.
