Understanding Orthodontic Treatment for Children In Loughborough Part 2: The Importance of Early Treatment

Posted on: August 24th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Welcome back to Part 2 of this two part series, where we are answering the most frequently asked questions we get from parents considering orthodontic treatment for their children.

In Part 1  we discussed materials, costs and the importance of regular check ups and after care. Here, in Part 2 we discuss the importance of early treatment.

Is it better to start treatment early?

In different countries, different dentists will have different approaches, and treat patients in different ways. Abroad, a lot of the dentists will tend to carry out treatment when the child is around the age of 8 or 9, and they will do it in two phases. The first phase in the mix tissue when the child has a mixture of both baby teeth and adult teeth, then they may consider whether to do a second phase when the patient is older and has adult teeth.

In the U.K., a lot of our training is with young teenagers, before baby teeth have been lost, and when adult teeth are present. So we tend to start treatment when the child is around 12 or 13. Sometimes children lose their baby teeth a bit earlier, and so may be able to start earlier, for example at 11. That’s the ideal scenario, but treatment can be started right up to adulthood.

Will my child have to have teeth out for treatment?

This depends on a number of factors. Here at the Straight Teeth Suite, we use brackets like the Damon brackets, which fortunately have brought down our extraction rate, so we need to take less teeth out.

We will only remove teeth if there is severe crowding, if the profile is really filled up, or your child has severe overjet. Overjet, not to be confused with overbite, means the top teeth are very far forward, and they need to be pushed back.

If a tooth is really unhealthy it may need to come out. These are the only times that we will consider extraction. Obviously, there will be some exceptions. But fortunately, we’ve reduced our extraction rates, thanks to using the Damon system.

Is my child suitable for this treatment?

As long as their teeth are healthy, the roots of their teeth are healthy, and their gums are healthy, your child should be suitable.

There are some patients whose bite issues are so severe that they can only be corrected with surgery. Luckily this is very rare, but if your child happens to be one of those cases, we would tell you immediately and refer you to the hospital.

How long will treatment take?

Treatment times can take anything between 12, 18, or 24 months, depending on the complexity of the corrections being made. In some cases patients may need a removable brace first, and then move on to a fixed brace.

If you still have questions, or you think your child may need braces, contact us HERE for a FREE consultation and we can develop a treatment plan especially for your child.

4 Things Every Mother Should Do Before Choosing an Orthodontist in Nottingham

Posted on: July 20th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Misaligned teeth and jaws used to be a challenging task to deal with in the past. However, with the latest advances in dentistry, and breakthroughs that no one could have ever imagined a few decades ago, most oral issues are easily treated. What used to be a long and tedious process is now computer-designed and significantly shortened in treatment time, allowing children and teenagers to acquire a bright and straight smile without the use of metal braces and non-aesthetically pleasing headgear. Also, pain has given its place to nervous-free orthodontic treatments and effective pain management.

That said, can you trust just about everybody with your child’s braces? What should every mom know before deciding which orthodontist will treat her child’s mouth? Here are the 4 major points you need to focus on, to make the wisest of decisions:

  1. Don’t Opt for the First Assessment you are Made

Knowledge is power, and the more you know about treatment options, the better placed your decision will be. For that reason, it is proposed not to stick to the initial assessment. They are, sometimes, wrong. To stay on the safe side, better ask for a second opinion. This should give you more knowledge and a more judgmental mind considering the first diagnosis and its accuracy. You will also understand whether your child is indeed in need of an orthodontic treatment and if the time is right to start one.

  1. Get Advice from Orthodontic Specialists

Did you know that millions of people in the UK and across the world go undiagnosed with serious jaw and tooth alignment problems because they never consulted an experienced orthodontic specialist? The result is to have severe jaw joint issues and tooth wear later on in their lives that require more expensive treatments than the ones that should/could have been delivered at an earlier age. To avoid that, you can find the right doctors and get their advice. Maybe your child has biting issues (malocclusion) or other problems that could escalate into a more critical condition in the future. Wouldn’t you want to know beforehand so you can intervene and prevent it? That’s why you need to speak to orthodontists with many years of experience and advanced training in jaw & tooth alignment to develop the most suited treatment plan for your child.

  1. Ask the Right Questions

– Is the doctor a specialist?

– When is the best time to start a treatment?

– How soon should my child be evaluated to rule out possible problems?

– Do I pay for the first visit?

– Am I paying extra for the retainers?

– What are the differences between treatment options (Lingual, Invisalign, etc.)?

– Are emergency appointments charged extra or included in the quoted fee?

– Are there any payment options?

– Do the orthodontist and staff at the clinic make my child feel special?

These are some of the important things you need to know about, to familiarise yourself with the nature of your child’s jaw and tooth alignment issues and be more able to understand the approach suggested.

  1. Book a Consultation

To make a confident decision, you have to visit the clinic in person. During that visit, you will not only be able to get clarifications to the burning questions you have in mind, but also take a good look around to see if the practice is comfortable, clean and infuses serenity and professionalism. You will also be able to tell whether the orthodontist is fully engaged in conversation with your child and you, or if you are rushed, among so many others. If you are happy with everything, you can then say you have found the perfect specialist for your child. Just trust your mommy instinct on this one; it is never wrong!

Finding the right doctor to allow your child to acquire a lovely straight smile in a timely manner while setting the foundation for an excellent oral health is paramount. At Straight Teeth Smile in Nottingham, you will get the exceptional care you want for your child and feel our innate passion and deep love for what we do right away.

Six month braces in Loughborough: Transforming gappy teeth into straight smiles

Posted on: July 7th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Gappy teeth are thought of as lucky within some cultures, where such a smile can represent wealth and fortune, and even within our own westernised culture the most illustrious of catwalks feature at least one in-demand gap toothed model.

However not everyone embraces the gaps in their teeth.

For the majority of people gappy teeth can cause self-consciousness, awkwardly covered mouths, or even the avoidance of social events and situations all together.

However if this sounds like an all-too familiar a tale then you’ll be glad to hear that today overcoming gappy teeth is both more affordable and more quickly achievable than ever before, and in this article we take a look at why.

Braces for gappy teeth

The world of braces has changed. No longer does it mean that the majority must wear the traditional train tracks for as long as two years. So, what can you expect from the world of dentistry today? Well, results within as little as 3 to 9 months for a start! Adult cosmetic braces are are suitable for both previous brace wearers, as well as braces newbies.

6 month braces in Loughborough: A little bit about how they work

6 month braces are designed to be fitted for a period of six months in average, after which you would wear a removable retainer; they are discreet and are decidedly free from the coloured wires and metal that traditional braces came along with.

They may be fixed to both your top and bottom teeth, or to either, and are specifically designed to close the gaps between your teeth, as well as aligning them for a naturally full and straight smile. They can also help to improve the health of your gums.

Your beautiful, gap free smile: Does it sound too good to be true?

Gappy to straight teeth within 6 months may sound too good to be true, so take a look at our patient case studies below, and the impressive results that we have achieved.

Patient A: A previous brace wearer and now a perfect example of super straight, gap free teeth

A patient, who had worn both top and bottom train track braces as a teenager approached us about his teeth, which had moved over time, with a gap emerging within his top row of teeth.

This patient was unhappy with the gaps in his teeth.

STS 1

The patient did not want to have to wear a traditional train track brace again and specifically wanted something that was both quick as well as discreet. With this in mind we discussed with the patient each and every option, with him ultimately opting for 6 month braces.

And the results? Well, see for yourself…

STS 2

After just six appointments, and within six months, our patient had a brand new smile that he could be proud of.

Patient B: A story of self-consciousness

Our second story involves a patient who was very self-conscious about his smile as a result of his gappy teeth. He felt uncomfortable smiling and didn’t like the fact his teeth appeared to protrude.

STS 3

For this particular patient the optimal solution would have been traditional train track braces (specifically to improve bite), however the patient was not comfortable with the two year time period and opted instead for the quicker and more reserved solution of six month braces.

And what did the patient think of his smile post braces?

The patient has said himself that our six month braces, and the results that they have achieved, have been nothing but life changing. You too can have these results.

STS 4

Saying a final farewell to your gappy teeth

Correcting a gappy smile is no longer the slow process that it once was. If you have questions, concerns or are ready for a professional assessment, then you can book right now with our practice team.

Does your Child Really Need Braces in Leicester?

Posted on: July 6th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

It is estimated that about 45% of kids require braces to fix misaligned biting issues, among other functional ones, and a profound 75% of children can benefit from having their teeth straightened. Dental braces are usually recommended as a means to fight 2 major problems: (1) jaw misalignment, where the patient either has an overbite (the top teeth are extruded compared to the bottom teeth) or underbite (the lower teeth are protruded and cover the upper ones), and (2) tooth crowding, usually of the bottom teeth (90% of children). All these conditions are collectively referred to as malocclusions, and besides an unattractive appearance, they can be the cause of serious health issues in the long run.

Why Wear Braces in the First Place?

Some people treat their dental conditions for self-esteem and cosmetic reasons, which includes the improvement of the shape of their face. Others seek the real benefits to wearing braces, which allow them to speak more effectively, bite and chew their food easier, and be able to maintain their oral hygiene and health to enhanced levels.

When we Usually Wait

The real question is, how many sets of braces are indeed required? No one can put a finger on a particular number.

  1. Overcrowding

Some research suggests we wait until the child’s late teens when the jaw will have grown to its full size, before the child begins a treatment, even in cases of more severe crowding. In the majority of cases, we usually adopt a wait-and-see approach, unless our case requires otherwise.

  1. Open Bite

An open bite is another form of malocclusion and occurs when the front teeth don’t meet the bottom teeth when the jaw closes and the child bites down. Early intervention in regards this case is not yet proven necessary, given that the bottom and top rows of front teeth keep are growing toward each other as the child gets older. So, it is proposed to wait until all the so-called baby teeth have been replaced by the adult teeth, before proceeding to a treatment.

  1. Overbite

Approximately 30% of children have buck teeth or an overbite, which is a skeletal abnormality that is usually not treated with braces, but other devices that help realign the jaw. You can have this issue addressed when the child is 7-8 years old or during their teens.

  1. Crossbites and Underbites

These conditions are much less common compared to crowding and overbites in kids. The majority of orthodontists feel that they should be addressed early as it might be easier to correct.

That said, our experience has shown that there are very good reasons for going ahead with braces at an early age (that is prior adulthood).

Benefits of an Early Intervention

First of all, in case of crowded teeth, your child can wear braces for cosmetic reasons and to be able to clean his or her teeth easier. Of course, both reasons offer significant benefits each. For example, your child might feel uncomfortable with the way their teeth look. Let’s face it, some issues with the teeth can be disfiguring, which, in turns, can make your child lose their self-confidence and suffer poor relationships. We all know, as parents, what this can do to a child – to any person, in fact. We see children getting bullied every day with tragic results, and such issues are not to be taken lightly. So, you will probably need to consider an orthodontic treatment. Also, those that can’t chew properly can experience pain. In this case, undergoing a treatment the soonest possible is considered critical.

Other than that, being able to clean your teeth thoroughly can keep you away from serious  problems, such as gum disease that could lead even to tooth loss and serious inflammation. And we are just scratching the surface of the colossal iceberg here.

However, the one responsible for recommending an orthodontic treatment to your child is your orthodontist; a trusted professional that you know wants the best for you and your family. One that truly cares about how you feel, bears your concerns, and answers your questions patiently. At Straight Teeth Suite in Leicester, we are happy to have cultivated such friendly and family-like relationships with our patients, because our genuine care for them is hard to miss.

To us, your child’s health is as important as it is to you, so contact us, have your first consultation free of any obligations and let’s discuss your child’s options in full!

What to do if you can’t get NHS braces in Nottingham for your child?

Posted on: June 15th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Braces are in high demand in the UK and worldwide. In 2013 alone, more than one million British people, adults and children alike, started an orthodontic treatment. Now, more than ever before, people want a treatment, be it for cosmetic or other reasons, which means that more and more parents ask for NHS treatments. However, getting NHS braces is not always guaranteed, and you may as well be refused NHS braces. The law is seemingly clear and straightforward: Orthodontic treatment is available on the NHS (for free) for under 18-year-olds, who need it. This means that if you have a child younger than 18, they are eligible for NHS braces. Right? Well, NOT always! You see, the trick part of the regulation is the last one, the “who need it”. Who determines whether a child needs an orthodontic treatment on dental health grounds? Orthodontists using IOTN (Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need).

What is the IOTN Assessment?

The IOTN, with the unanimous consent of the British Orthodontic Society, is a measure of the necessity of an orthodontic treatment for children under 18. It is believed that if a treatment is to be rationed, there has to be a way to assess the children’s cases and decide on the ones that will benefit most from a treatment. That way, the limited NHS resources might be better (and fairer) prioritised.

The IOTN comprises the following: (1) The Dental Health Component, and (2) The Aesthetic Component, and are divided in grades from 1-5 with 1 being the closest to perfection and 5 the most severe dental problems, such as protruding upper teeth (> than 9mm), large number of teeth missing, cranio-facial anomalies, and teeth that can’t come into the mouth as supposed because of crowding or any other cause.

Where to Address If you are Refused NHS Treatment for your Child

So, what happens when you are denied NHS or are being put on an unreasonably long waiting list?

The first thing you can do is contact your local NHS branch. You can find a list of authorities and trusts per area, here. Besides that, you may want to seek private treatment. The best way to get around it is to get recommendations from either the BOS website or your dentist. Talk to other people that have had an orthodontic treatment for their child and get some personal recommendations from them as well.

If, for any reason, you feel that the assessment that your child has received is unfair, you should speak to the family dentist so that he arranges a second option. Additionally, you can address your local PCT (Primary Care Trust) and see what they have to say.

Finally, there are practices that offer payment options that make the cost of an orthodontic treatment manageable. Plus, if your child’s problem is minor, you can find treatments that will fix your child’s dental issue in a few months, which means the fees will probably be much less than you first imagined.

At Straight Teeth Suite in Nottingham, there are various finance plans to suit your budget. Feel free to take a look.

No one should decide whether your child needs an orthodontic treatment or not and no one has the right to deprive a child of a beautiful (and self-confidence boosting), straight smile. So, don’t hesitate. Contact us NOW and let’s find the best way to give your kid the smile they deserve!

What makes Lingual Braces so Fast at Straightening Teeth in Leicester?

Posted on: June 15th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

In our fast-paced world, everybody wants to have things done faster, including teeth straightening so they can enjoy a beautiful smile the soonest possible. Normally, traditional wire braces can take up to 2 years to fix biting issues and move teeth to the ideal position. However, with lingual braces, this is no longer the case. They are reputed to take significantly less time to complete the same task as other orthodontic treatments (except perhaps the 6 months braces that is only suited to a very specific group of patients that meet particular requirements), which is why they make a populous option for teeth straightening.

In a nutshell, what are Lingual Braces?

Lingual braces is a perfect option for the correction of misaligned teeth with the use of fixed braces that are bonded on the teeth’s inner surface (tongue side), rather than the outside (what you see when one smiles).  Although lingual braces work in exactly the same way as conventional braces, there are significant factors that make them an extremely appealing and fast treatment to straighten teeth (results can be visible even in 6 weeks).

Following is a short list with all the major key-points that make lingual braces distinct.

  1. They Give Full Control of the Teeth

To begin with, lingual braces give full control of the teeth (and full movement) while being entirely invisible (unless someone looks inside your mouth). This means that besides the aesthetic part that is definitely a huge plus, lingual braces allow the orthodontist to control teeth better than with conventional treatments. That way, each tooth moves to the desired position faster.

Note: Lingual braces use much stronger metal than composite brackets, which also contributes to them working faster than other treatments.

  1. They are Self-Ligating

Self-ligating brackets have come to change how things are done. As or now, orthodontists had to use specialised hardware to force the teeth to move. Traditional braces have an archwire and an elastic tie, besides braces, to hold the braces in place and accomplish the task. Self-ligating braces, on the other hand, attach to each tooth separately and don’t require metal ties or elastic bands. Instead, they use a moveable component that entraps the wire, meaning they use the bracket itself to hold the wire in place. To cut a long story short, self-ligating braces allow for faster alignment, reduce friction, improve the clinical efficiency, and oral hygiene.

  1. They are Fixed

Lingual braces are permanent, which makes them more time saving compared to Invisalign braces or any other removable braces, since they stay in the mouth 24/7 and work around the clock, unlike removable ones that only work when you wear them.

Lingual braces can be a perfect option for both adults and teenagers, providing they have healthy bones and gums (a generally good oral hygiene). Overall, lingual braces have more consistent results than traditional or removable braces, plus you spend considerably less time at your adjustment appointment, given that the missing ties make the procedure much quicker.

Needless to say, for any concerns or queries, don’t hesitate to contact Straight Teeth Suite in Leicester and book your first FREE consultation, where we can discuss your case, assess your mouth, and suggest the best options that will help you achieve your dream smile!

Why are lingual braces the most comfortable choice in Leicester?

Posted on: June 1st, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Of the numerous options for braces, it appears that lingual braces are the most handy. But, what makes them so appealing?

First and foremost, lingual braces straighten the teeth allowing the patient to avoid the obvious appearance of an orthodontic treatment. This means that you can wear braces without anyone noticing it, because the wires and brackets are placed at the back of the teeth and not the front, as with conventional methods. With invisible braces, you have the confidence to smile from beginning of the treatment to end!

Besides the aesthetic reasons, the latest lingual braces are much more comfortable than other orthodontic treatments because:

  • They are built to help minimise the overall discomfort and speech interference.
  • They require fewer wire adjustments, which, to you, means significantly reduced discomfort throughout the treatment. Moreover, it may require to fewer visits, as well.
  • It is an extremely efficient, proven teeth straightening method that delivers the highest quality results.
  • The hidden braces are fully customised with the help of 3D computer technology so that they fit each tooth individually. Unlike older lingual braces, and, of course, conventional treatments, the new generation lingual braces don’t use generic prescriptions. Since no two teeth are alike, the patient gets braces for each tooth separately. On top of that, this customisation in braces allows for less frequent adjustment visits.
  • Just because they are customised, lingual braces have the lowest profile, allowing patients to be able to wear them easily, just like with standard braces. The added benefit is that lingual braces are invisible!
  • You have significantly less impact on your speech as the new lingual braces are up to 70% smaller than what they used to be, which makes them more comfy. Plus, you get less tongue irritation now.
  • It is considerably easier to maintain a good oral hygiene, given that there are fewer wires that restrain brushing and flossing.
  • Brackets are made from gold alloy, not nickel. Since many people have nickel-related allergies, it is a critical to ensure their overall good health.
  • Lingual braces are custom-fit, so you don’t run as much risk of detaching brackets as with other orthodontic treatments. This also mean significantly less re-bonding emergency appointments!
  • You don’t have to remove your aligners and then replace them every time you want to grab a bite. Unlike other methods, lingual braces allow complete freedom to eat and drink whatever you want.
  • You have teeth straightening forces applied on a 24/7 basis. Other treatments don’t work all the time, since you remove them from your mouth every now and then, which prologues the treatment time.

Lingual Braces are Perfect for:

  • Teenagers/adults that don’t want their braces to show.
  • Adults and teens involved in music, theatre, or public speaking.
  • Athletes
  • Musicians (playing wind instruments)
  • Models
  • Adult professionals
  • People worries about damaging their front surface of their teeth.

Want to know more about lingual braces and see if you are a suited candidate for them? Book a FREE consultation with us, and let’s meet in our clinic in Leicester to discuss how you can pursue a fantastic smile and pearly white, straight teeth the soonest possible!

Will my Child’s Crooked Teeth in Leicester, Get Worse?

Posted on: June 1st, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Many teens and adults in Leicester come to our practice to fix their crooked teeth and enhance their appearance. We can’t stress enough the significance of having your misaligned, or crooked teeth treated the soonest possible. If left unattended, they WILL get worse. Untreated crooked teeth can cause a series of serious problems, such as periodontal disease, which is an extremely difficult issue to deal with that creates enormous amounts of stress on your jaw and teeth.

Why Should I have my Child’s Crooked Teeth Treated Immediately?

Misaligned teeth (teeth that don’t align properly in the mouth) create malocclusion, which affects the majority of adults over the world. If left untreated, it can escalate into a more serious type of malocclusion, and eventually to periodontal disease. What is periodontal disease and what does it do to your mouth and overall health? Crowded teeth cause buildup of tartar and plaque and harbor bacteria. When this happens, you may develop periodontal disease, which could result in tooth and jaw bone loss. The disease starts with bleeding gums or gum redness. You may also notice bad breath. If you don’t get it treated, the gum inflammation will become worse, the gums will recede, and you may see pockets between your gums and your teeth. Then, you will experience bone loss and eventually tooth loss. To avoid all this undesirable and uncomfortable situation, you child’s crooked teeth have to be treated and be properly aligned.

Note: With good oral hygiene, your child may reduce the chances of tooth decay, plaque retention, and periodontal disease. However, they should be regularly seen by a dentist to start an early intervention if a problem arises.

Other than that, crooked teeth don’t allow for proper cleaning and food stays lodged between the teeth for long. This could result in tender and sore gums. Now, if your child also has a deep bite, another form of malocclusion, they can cause premature chipping and wear of the lower front teeth and damage to the palate, as well. The same applies to cross bite and edge-to-edge bite that can result in chipping of the teeth, worn down front teeth, and law joint pain, among others. As for an open bite, your child could experience gum recession, bone and tooth loss, excessive wear on the back teeth (prematurely).

Why is periodontal disease so dangerous?

Because it can increase the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which is when the arteries harden and block the normal blood flow to and from the heart.

Is there any Chance they Become Worse during Treatment?

The most popular option is Invisalign, with 96% patient satisfaction rate.

YES: You may hear of parents having braces to straighten their children’s teeth saying that their teeth look worse than what they did before (have gaps where they didn’t have, etc.).

This does not mean that the treatment is doing any damage or is ineffective (provided they had their braces fitted by a skilled orthodontist). It is because teeth straightening is a dynamic process that changes the teeth. During the alignment process, especially the first 6 months, the teeth are forced to reposition. You see, they had drifted into a position where they are functional and stable for all these years, and the body had adjusted to the malocclusion by making what is called dental compensations. When straightening the teeth, we are asking the body to make other changes and adjust to the new situation as we unravel the crowding and remove dental compensations. At this phase, you may notice some changes in the alignment of your child’s teeth, get spaces where you didn’t have before, have a couple of teeth look more crooked and develop an underbite/overbite where there wasn’t before. All of this is 100% temporal, necessary, and normal.

How do you know if your child needs braces, in Loughborough ?

Posted on: May 5th, 2015 by freshadmin No Comments

Every day, many of the patients we meet ask whether their child needs braces or not. The majority of these parents anxiously want a straightforward answer of either “YES” or “NO”. Of course, although the question seems clear-cut, the answer is more challenging that you might have imagined, given the numerous things we have to consider, assess, and evaluate before we reach a confident decision. However, we completely understand your concern as a parent, and here you can find all the information you will need to decide whether you should be seeking an orthodontist’s help or not.

So, what can you, as a parent, do to know if your child needs braces?

Look for the signs.

What does this mean? Let’s take first things first.

Your child should start seeing a dentist the moment their first baby tooth erupts, which is usually between their first 6 months and up to age one. With regular visits to the dentist, your dentist (and consequently, you) will know when it is time for a full or minor intervention for braces, even when not all baby teeth have fallen yet. Some problems are best treated the earliest possible, but others call for our patience and a wait-and-see approach. This means that we may have to treat a child between 6-9 or wait until their late teens.

The signs that reveal a child will most likely benefit from braces include:

  • Irregular, early, or late loss of baby teeth
  • Blocked-out teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Misplaced teeth
  • Biting of the roof of the mouth
  • Biting of the cheek
  • Teeth that don’t meet or meet abnormally
  • Teeth and jaws disproportionate to the rest of the face
  • Shifting jaws of jaws that make sounds

Other than, your child may require braces if they have biting issues.

The problems classified as a bad bite are as followed:

  • Having extra teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • An underbite or an overbites
  • Incorrect position of the jaw

What is the best age for my child to be evaluated for orthodontic care?

The evaluation of your child’s teeth and jaw, as well as the treatment of bite-related problems, can start at various stages of dental development, and it always depends on the case and the child’s growth. Also, your orthodontist will weigh the benefits and risks of treatment or not treating. Some children may benefit from an orthodontic intervention from a young age (6-7 years old), but orthodontic treatments usually begin between the ages 9-14 because the children are still growing and have some (at least) permanent teeth. Consult your pediatric or general dentist to help you determine the ideal time for evaluation and treatment.

Why do children need braces?

The majority of orthodontic issues are genetic, which means that children inherit having too much space between teeth, missing teeth, extra teeth, protruding upper teeth, and so on. Some other problems develop because of certain habits, such as thumb-sucking, dental decay, breathing through the mouth, and poor nutrition, to name a few. Or, it could be because there is not sufficient room in the laws for the teeth, which makes the jaws not line up properly or the teeth become crooked or crowded.

If you are still unsure whether your child needs braces or not, don’t hold yourself back from contacting Straight Teeth Suite in Loughborough and asking for our advice and help. Book a consultation for FREE and we will be more than willing and happy to clear everything out for you, evaluate your child’s case, and provide you with the best solutions possible so that you child enjoys a lovely, straight smile the soonest possible.

What is the best straight teeth option for adults in Nottingham?

Posted on: July 1st, 2014 by freshadmin No Comments

Many people think braces are only for the younger ages, around adolescence, which is why a number of adults used to be withdrawn from pursuing a beautiful smile and lovely straight teeth. Thankfully, this all has started to change over the last decades, and people of all ages have come to the realization that an enhanced well-being and daily routine, through increased self-confidence and a wide inviting, bright, smile is everyone’s right.

In regards the orthodontic treatments available right now, one of the most popular teeth straightening options in Nottingham is the 6 Month Braces one. We feel proud that our dentist at Straight Teeth Suite was among the pioneers that had first been trained and successfully implemented this treatment in the entire country. The 6 Month Braces is a tested method with hundreds of successfully completed cases in our practice, so we implicitly recommend it to adults in Nottingham and nearby cities that want a fast and discreet way to improve their smile.

It is an orthodontic treatment widely popular among brides that want to be more confident smiling for their special days; we have had hundreds of such cases that we were happy to serve. It is also a much preferred option for those that want to go passed unnoticed when wearing braces. We had plenty of adults having treatment done and no one noticed they had braces on until the end, when they were proud to show off their new smiles!

What does 6 Month Braces consist of?

This orthodontic treatment consists of fixed tooth coloured braces attached to the front of the teeth and a tooth coloured wire which allows the teeth to move. The best thing about it is that you don’t have to worry about taking the braces out and you can even eat and drink with the braces in, unlike other treatment options.

With this treatment, you can correct up to 8 front teeth simultaneously (both top and bottom) in just about a 6-month time!

Am I Suitable for this Orthodontic Treatment?

Most likely yes, as long as you have healthy teeth and gums. As previously mentioned, it is a treatment used to fix up to 8 front teeth on both jaws. So, if your concerns are just these teeth, then you are good to go!
